FEASIBILTY STUDIES

There are several types of feasibility studies, depending on the need:
  1. Demographics (study of community-population, economics, and industry growth trends and projections)
  2. Local church attendance growth patterns
  3. Local church financial status
  4. Printed denominational requirements for attendance vs. space capacity - projecting growth
  5. Potential mortgage capabilities
  6. Professional financial evaluation and potential
  7. In-depth denominational requirements for attendance vs. space capacity - projecting growth and financial factors
  8. In-depth professional growth vs. space and financial analysis
  9. Our general analysis of your growth patterns, financial status, and printed denominational guidelines for recommended space requirements.

Usually the local church can provide the first four or five types of feasibility studies themselves. Sometimes "demographics" are not needed if you are in a "stable" community, where growth and conditions are predictable.

There are professional "church financial consultants" (feasibility study type #6). We can provide the names of many of these. They can give guidance, professional opinion, and a fundraising program.

Some denominations provide the services listed in #7 at little or no cost to their member churches. This is usually very professionally done, and can be relied upon for accuracy.

The next type, #8, is usually done by independent consultants who study various aspects of church growth. Many times they are professional fundraisers, and they will require a fee for their services.

For the feasibility studies that we normally do, we take the information you give us from feasibility studies 1, 2, and 3; and if you do not have feasibility study 4 and 5, apply similar denominational requirements, and normal mortgage and church funding principles, into a master plan that allows for construction that is "phased", to fit with your growth needs and financial capabilities. This service is not extra, but part of our "design costs".

If we are to provide feasibility studies 1-3, and 5, or any other of the services listed, we would have to change accordingly.

In the past, we have conducted a seminar entitled, "Church Building and Planning - Where Do I Start?", for the International Christian Education Association Convention. It is two 1 1/2 hour sessions which explain all of these services. We would charge $600.00 to put this on for you at your church, or $400.00 if held in our office. You could invite other churches to join you, and share the cost.
